Welcome to PowWow BoardGames
PowWow BoardGames is a PlugIn for PowWow allowing people to play Cards, Checkers, Dominoes, Chess, Backgammon, and Dice together.
How to use BoardGames
- Choosing and Changing Games
To select what game to play, choose GAMES ¦ CHOOSE GAME (CTRL-G) from the menu. After a game has started, the keyboard
shortcut CTRL-C will always change the options for that game.
- Selecting Game Objects
Every object except CheckerBoards and Backgammon Boards can be selected by clicking them with
the mouse. Also, try click-and-dragging to draw a rectangle around many objects to select them all. To
unselect all objects, click anywhere on the table where there are NOT any games objects.
- Moving Game Objects
Clicking and dragging on any object will cause all selected items to move.
- PopMenus for Everything
Right clicking on any object will bring up a PopMenu for all of the actions that can be done to that object.
- Talking Within BoardGames
Choose GAMES ¦ TALK from the Menu or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL-T to chat with fellow GamesPlayers.
If PowWow's Text-To-Speech is installed and you choose the CheckBox "Say It Out Loud" the chatted words
are spoken aloud by RobotVoice.
- Game Status
Changing the game's status will allow more people to Join in your game or to View your game without influencing it.
Check the menu item GAMES ¦ STATUS ¦ ALLOW JOINERS or ALLOW VIEWERS to allow or deny others to enter your game space.
During two-player games like Checkers or Backgammon, the status is automatically set to not allow joiners after the
second person has joined.
- Viewers
Choose GAMES ¦ SHOW VIEWERS from the Menu to see your game's Viewers. If you enter a game as a Viewer you will only
receive data and not send data. You will only be able to View game events and not Influence them.
- Transmitted Window Sizing
Resizing your BoardGames window causes all connected peoples' windows to also resize. This is so everybody can agree on
the gameplaying space available. If a window size larger than your desktop is chosen by a remote gamePlayer, your window
will choose a smaller size and transmit that size to the others.
